About Meningitis Awareness Foundation - M A F

Headquartered in Kenya, The Meningitis Awareness Foundation (MAF), is a non-profit organisation and a member of the global Confederation of Meningitis Organisations (CoMO) -part of the Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF). MAF works to prevent meningitis, support those affected, and advocate for transformative change.

VISION

A world where meningitis is effectively prevented, those affected receive compassionate and comprehensive care, and advocacy drives transformative health policies.


MISSION

To prevent and control meningitis, provide holistic support to affected individuals, and champion policy advocacy—ensuring that no one we can reach dies from meningitis.

Our Theory of Change

MAF believes that If we implement comprehensive prevention strategies—such as community education and targeted vaccination campaigns—then early detection and prevention of meningitis will improve because individuals will be empowered with the knowledge to act swiftly at the first signs of the disease. Likewise, if we establish robust support systems that deliver integrated medical, psychosocial, and financial assistance, then the recovery outcomes and quality of life for affected individuals will enhance because timely, holistic care minimizes complications and long-term impacts. Furthermore, if we intensify our advocacy efforts and leverage strategic partnerships, including our CoMO network, then systemic health reforms and resource allocation will evolve because consistent engagement with policymakers and stakeholders drives sustainable change.
